Big-Headed Ant Facts

  • Typically no longer than 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch in length and are reddish brown in color.
  • Nest in soil or rotten wood outdoors; rarely infest homes but may enter in search of food.

Bigheaded ants get their name from the appearance of the major workers - they have very large heads in relation to their bodies. Depending on the species, their color ranges from yellow to dark reddish-brown.
