Rats running rampant in Florida elementary school

Panther Run Elementary school in Wellington, Florida, recently became overrun with furry trespassers rummaging through the facility's air ducts, eating students' science projects and leaving droppings on the floors.

The school sent a letter to parents informing them of the rat problem, and then closed the school so pest control services could treat the situation. The school has had rat infestations before, during construction and renovation on the building. Holes in the ceiling and roof during the construction likely allowed the rats to enter the building. But the problem has worsened and administrators are taking steps to get rid of the rats for good, the Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

Rat infestations have also been a problem for eateries in Tucson, Arizona. According to KVOA, droppings were spotted at the water heater and under the dish machine at the Jade Garden Restaurant. The droppings were one of 9 critical health violations the restaurant received during a recent health inspection.

A little more than a mile away from Jade, the Donut Wheel was also found to have rodent droppings in its facility, as well as a dead rat under the kitchen sink. Donut Wheel was able to correct its violations with professional pest control services and pass its reinspection, KVOA reported.
