Description
  • Deadliest creature on earth
  • Breeds in standing, stagnant water
  • Spreads disease
  • Females need blood meal to lay eggs
  • Nests in moist, warm environments
  • Mosquitoes have a history of being a significant vector of disease in humans and animals alike. Mosquitoes are attracted to moisture and are most commonly found in areas where standing water is present.
  • Male Mosquitoes only live between 1-2 weeks, while females can live for up to six months. Female mosquitoes lay roughly 100-150 eggs per cycle, and can have up to 10 cycles in a lifetime. Incubation usually occurs within 2-5 days although some eggs have proven to be viable up to seven years later.
  • Mosquitoes generally feed within a 100 foot radius of their breeding site. Males and females feed on sugars and nectars of nearby flowers and plants, females however require a blood meal in order to lay a large number of eggs.
  • Control Advice The summer means Mosquitos. Mosquitos are blood feeders that carry and transmit disease causing pathogens. Remove any items that can accumulate water from the exterior of your home. Even small amounts of water, left for as little as seven days, can breed mosquitos.
