Yes, there really was a man named Truly! Truly Nolen was founded by Truly Wheatfield Nolen in Miami, Florida in 1938. His son, Truly David Nolen, joined forces with him after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Entomology. Together, they expanded and improved the pest control business.
Truly David saw his customers as family. In doing so, he got pest control right. It was his vision for you to be protected by proactive pest control that you’re proud of and see it as a sign of good housekeeping, done in an environmentally responsible way, and made affordable by serving you and your neighbors. It’s a philosophy and passion that continues to drive President Scarlett Nolen today.

Dr. Chris Christensen opened his Truly Nolen franchise in 1998. With a Ph.D. in Entomology from Purdue University, his expertise spans medical, livestock, and economic entomology, which brings a deep scientific foundation to his work in pest management. In addition to his role as a franchise owner, Dr. Christensen has made significant contributions to the industry through education and training. He previously served as a professor of entomology at the University of Kentucky, where he helped shape future professionals in the field. He is also the developer of the University of Kentucky Pest Control Short Course and played a key role in creating the Pest Control Basic Training program used for Kentucky PCO test preparation. Further extending his impact, Dr. Christensen authored Technician’s Guide to Insect Identification, a valuable resource for industry professionals.
Matt Christensen represents the next generation of leadership in the Lexington & Cincinnati franchise, bringing both legacy and hands-on expertise to the business. As a second-generation pest control professional, Matt joined the family business in 2000, working alongside his father to continue building on a strong foundation of service and technical excellence. Over the years, Matt has developed extensive knowledge in both pest and wildlife management, with a practical, field-driven understanding of how to solve even the most complex issues for customers. His experience spans day-to-day operations, advanced treatment strategies, and delivering effective, long-term solutions.
Casandra Gaud has been an integral part of the Lexington & Cincinnati team since joining Truly Nolen in 2013 as an Office Manager. Through her dedication, versatility, and leadership, she has grown within the organization and now serves as Operations Manager, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the team. Her leadership style is rooted in building a strong team culture, where support, accountability, customer service, and growth are front and center. She is passionate about her role and the opportunities it provides to help develop others. She takes pride in helping train and mentor team members, ensuring they are prepared to succeed and provide an outstanding customer experience.
